Dear Parents,
We know the beginning of a new school year can be a stressful time for students and families. In order to alleviate some of your anxiety, we wanted to let you know a little bit about us, since we will be spending the majority of the school day with your child:
Mrs. Chrissie Maughan has been teaching fifth grade at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School since 2009. Mrs. Maughan is a liaison for the 21st Century after school Enrichment Program, Clear Space After School. She has been a leader for the school’s Math Olympiad Team. She has been a Summer School Consortium teacher for the past five years as well as instructing incoming freshman in the APIP Geometry program at Seaford High School. She is a leader for the Girl Scouts of American, Troop 454 from Milton, Delaware. Mrs. Maughan received her Masters of Education from Mount Saint Mary’s University in 2005. She lives in Milton with her two daughters, her husband, and her new Golden Retriever puppy!
Ms. Holly Grandfield has been a special education teacher for twenty-five years, with over fifteen years in a co-teaching classroom. She is a National Board Certified teacher and will be recertifying for that this year. She has a Master of Instruction from the University of Delaware. This is Ms. Grandfield’s second year at HO Brittingham Elementary. She lives in Broadkill Beach with her daughter Fallon, and her dog Bella, and she loves to take long walks on the beach.
As a teaching team, we will make every effort to meet the unique needs of your child this year. Our role as teacher includes understanding and supporting your child socially, emotionally, and educationally. Please feel free to e-mail either of us, or call the school if you have any questions or concerns during the year!
